Eurosentrisme dalam Film 'Seven Years in Tibet'

Abstract


Instead of functioning as an entertainment medium, a film can also be a tool of propaganda loaded with the interests of its creator. Through this medium, a variety of narrative can be delivered to the audience. This article discusses “the messages” contained in the film Seven Years in Tibet in relation to the idea of orientalism proposed by Edward Said. This article, among others, discussed the grand narration that regards the West as the center and the East as the peripheral. Aspects in the film that reinforces the positioning is exemplified in this article.
